Despacito is a song from 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed and downloaded song in the world within six months. The mix of reggaeton with pop music has not only brought interest back to the genre, but as well to Latin music in general. Billboard's Top 100 included four mostly Spanish tracks in 2016 and two songs in 2015. Despacito's popularity Despacito reached its peak in the year the year 2017. In 2020 the year 2020, 41 mainly Spanish songs will be included in the Top 100. In the wake of Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, famous artists started to work with reggaeton performers. Drake and Bad Bunny were part of a team on MIA (2018) as did Madonna and Maluma. Madonna collaborated with Maluma to record Medellin in the year 2019. As early as 2020, a few reggaeton artists were unhappy with the way it was moving toward more mainstream. Rauw Alajandro is a part of a new generation of musicians who are determined to shift the course. Rauw Alejandro incorporated electronic dance forms and others into his music.
